She made us feel very welcome and comfortable we ended up having a great experience in terms of both atmosphere and food. She did not expect a tip, and when I insisted on giving her one, she thanked me profusely. Most hot orders are called out from the bar for pickup by the customer, but she brought ours to the table and kept coming around to make sure we were being taken care of. We especially appreciated that our server was so kind. The languistines were delicious but a bit messy.
The fried calamari was light and not greasy. The cheese platter had a wonderful and very large selection of Basque cheeses, pear confit, and bread. The duck was the least successful, being slightly dry. Again, the seafood items all tasted incredibly fresh. We ordered additional orders of the scallops as well as the seared tuna.

The seared scallop was huge, fresh, perfectly seared, completely free of grit, and one of the best I have ever tasted. Most people just pick stuff off the plates on the bar, but the ordered dishes are an absolute must.
I read the French menu written in chalk on the blackboard painted column, so when the server came by our table, I ordered a bunch. Then, when a table opened up, he was kind enough to direct us to it. The proprietor knew we were not familiar with the pintxos, so he explained what they were to us. The place was bustling with locals, so we decided to try it. We had the best 'pintxos' of our stay in Spain.
